Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 14: Believe it or not but ghosts seem to be ruling the roost in two colleges of Jammu city, doing whatever pleases them.
Mysterious incidents have been happening in two city colleges with Principals of both the colleges preferring to keep everything secret both from the eye of media as well as higher education department. If the sources are to be believed, the administration of the two colleges did not bother to inform the higher-ups about mysterious happenings especially fire incidents and theft.
A highly credible source said that a fortnight ago, there was a fire incident in Government Women College (GWC) Gandhinagar.
They added that the fire led to several computers and printers being reduced to ashes. Even a refrigerator was burnt down, said source in the college. What is surprising is that despite this destruction, there was not even trace of fire incident on the furniture and curtains in the room, said the source.
He maintained that the incident was hushed up for the reasons best known to the Principal and other staff members of the college. They further said that not only this incident was hushed up but another strange incident in which a computer kept on a table was completely destroyed in fire while there was not even trace of this incident on the table.
A college lecturer advised the administration to make the incident pubic but his advice was not heeded to and instead, the matter was kept under wraps, said the sources. They asserted that connected with this incident and is another strange issue of the girls disappearing from the hostel and returning after spending weeks out.
Sources confirmed that if the college administration orders a random check, they would be surprised to find out how girls are allowed to move out of the hostel. Though the girls are allowed to go out with their familieson Thursday but early times has credible reports of girls living in the hostel even being out of Jammu city on days other than Thursday.
When an official was asked, he stopped short of blaming ghosts for the disappearance of girls from the hostel. "This is not possible. We keep a close eye on the girls and no one is allowed to move out of days other than Thursday," said the official who wished not to be named. He further said "We have a strict warden. This is merely an allegation. We are not going to do any random check on the girls since we trust our warden."
In another such strange incident, there was a theft in Maulana Azad College. "Some computers were stolen but the administration instead of lodging an FIR has maintained a strange silence for the reasons best known to them. Not only this, even records have been stolen from the college," said an official of the MAM College. He added that the college authorities have maintained a complete silence and are not even ready to accept that something serious happened and that was not reported to the police and the higher-ups.
