Jammu, Sept 14: First Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, M A Choudhary has rejected the bail application of an alleged narco-smuggler.
Petitioner Shail Sharma was arrested by police from the railway station here on September 2 last along with 5 kilograms of ganja. He and his accomplice had tried to flee on seeing the cops who were on routine duty at platform No 2 and 3. They had alighted from Jammu Mail and were carrying a black bag.
They were, however, chased and apprehended by the cops. The search of the bag had led police to the recovery of 5 kg ganja. Both of them were then arrested by GRP railway station and booked under relevant sections of law. The ganja was also seized.
The judge, after hearing the APP, observed that the drug abuse had became a major problem for the society over the years and their use, on addiction, 'causes chronic, brain disease changing the brain, its structure and working'.
With these observations, the court rejected the bail application of the accused.
