These directions were issued by SVC while adjudicating upon a complaint received by it, alleging therein the encroachment on Housing Board and JDA land, which became available after channelizing the nallah passing through Gangyal, Delli, Digiana, Channi Himmat, Bija and Darap areas of Jammu city.
Earlier, while giving details of the initiatives taken by JDA, the director land management informed the commission that demarcation of land was in progress. He, however, sought some more time for fencing of retrieved land and said that final report would be submitted after the ongoing demarcation and fencing process was completed.
The Collector, J&K Housing Board, Jammu in his deposition stated that board was unable to utilize the retrieved land at Thangar Nallah in view of the High Court stay orders issued in the case. The report further revealed that the board has proposed to develop the land, retrieved after channelizing Nallah at Channi Himmat.
Besides asking the Collector, J&K Housing Board to pursue the case vigorously in the high court to get stay vacated, the commission directed the officers of both the organizations to work in close coordination and furnish a comprehensive development plan of the available land keeping in mind the public needs of the respective areas.
