Early Times Report

Rajaori, Sept 19: In broad daylight, the henchmen of BJP leader and MLA Ravinder Raina on Tuesday mercilessly beat Early Times' whistleblower in Sunderbani area here even as they threatened to kill him.
The incident happened in Lahoti area of Sunderbani when villagers this morning at around 11:30 AM called the whistleblower to see for himself as to how Ravinder Raina was "illegally getting funds allotted for public works in one area, diverted to his vote bank."
As the villagers were sharing their woeful tale of "illegal diversion of funds to benefit particular area where MLA's workers live," a group of miscreants appeared on the spot and started ruthlessly to beat the whistleblower.
While threatening the victim of getting him killed on the instructions of the MLA, the group of men beat him to pulp, as he fell on the ground in a pool of blood, bleeding profusely.
"You bloody Early Times walas, bear in your mind that nobody can stop us from doing what we want to do… Nothing is legal or illegal when it comes to our Ravinder Raina, who does what he wants to," the group of miscreants shouted at the victim as he cried for help.
Some of the attackers were identified as Jasbir Singh son of Shankar Dass, Dev Raj son of Shankar Dass, Shankar Dass son of Roopa, Tirth Ram son of Amar Nath, Vindu Kumar son of Shankar Dass and Shemsheer Sing son of Keer Sing.
The victim, who also happens to be area respectable, was picked up by bystanders who rushed him to nearby hospital, from where he was rushed to Jammu city for specialized treatment.
The victim is presently hospitalized at Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. Crying in pain the victim said he fears a threat to life. "They will kill me, they will kill me, as they told me MLA wants me eliminated," he kept uttering as doctors examined him.
Police said case has been registered against the accused.
But as if the deadly attack was not enough, sources said the ruling party MLA was pressurizing the police and the concerned Block Medical Officer to act against the wounded so that he is booked for an "exemplary revenge."
"BMO has been directed to fudge the case while the SHO is being asked to file counter FIR because the MLA is pestered because of Early Times reports which have exposed his dirty deeds and plunder of public resources he is resorting to," said a source on the constitution of anonymity.
Despite repeated attempts the accused MLA or his men could not be contacted for comments.
