Kashmir unrest pushes return of KPs to back burner

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 29: With unrest in Kashmir continuing for close to three months, the proposed return of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley has been put into cold storage once again.
According to sources, notwithstanding the Centre Government's claims to repatriate the displaced Pandits back to Valley, there has been a question mark over the return of about 2000 KP employees appointed under PM's special employment package for Pandits who have also migrated to Jammu after the outbreak of fresh violence and killing of dreaded terrorist belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit on July 8 in Kokernag area of South Kashmir.
According to sources, taking the advantage of the unrest, anti social and pro Pak elements in Valley exploited the innocent masses and instigated them for violence to thwart Government's return and rehabilitation formula and to save their skin, some mainstream parties also joined the chorus to oppose the Government on this account.
Sources said the separatists and subversive elements were in dire need of an issue to instigate the masses against the construction of colonies within Valley for return and rehabilitation of Pandits and Burhan's killing provided this platform as otherwise these elements were knowing that common Kashmiris will not take to streets to oppose return of Pandits in separate colonies, sources added.
Sources said after succeeding in their game plan the separatists are now dictating terms and extending the bandh call to please their masters across the border.
With this game plan the separatists and Pakistan succeeded in raking up Kashmir issue in UN once again, eventhough it could not seek the support of international community on this issue.
Pakistan despite getting a drubbing at international fora has not still learnt any lesson as it still continues its subversive activities in Kashmir to keep the morale of separatists in Valley who are facing a revolt from masses now as people in Valley are fed up with over two months long violence and 27 year long death and destruction.
Sources said increasing public resentment against separatists has also created fissures in Hurriyat camp with moderate leadership of conglomerate challenging the stand of hardliners.
Sources said in case moderate faction success in gaining more and more public support the Hardliners in Hurriyat as well as Pakistan will be marginalised and this can pave a way for restoration of peace in Valley and help in creating congenial atmosphere for return of exiled Pandits.
