Srinagar, Oct 8: A massive hunt has been launched to nab militants who attacked a police post that left a police constable dead and two others, including a civilian, injured in south Kashmir district of Shopian last night. A police spokesman said a group of militants fired upon the guards posted at a minority picket in Jamnagri, Shopian last night. The alert police guards also retaliated ensuing a fierce encounter, he aid said adding two police constables Nazir Ahmad and Zahoor Ahmad besides a civilian Puran Krishan Koul were injured. The injured were rushed to district hospital, Shopian, where constable Nazir Ahmad died, spokesman said adding two other injured were rushed to Srinagar and admitted to 92 Army Base hospital. Both the injured are now out of danger, he said adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants, who managed to escape under the cover of darkness after the attack. This was the second such attack on policemen guarding minorities in south Kashmir as early this week militants attacked a police post and decamped with five weapons of police personnel. However, no harm was caused to minorities.
