Geelani wants people to 'beg' to keep hartal alive!
10/8/2016 11:47:27 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Oct 8: Two days after poor transporters staged a protest against the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Srinagar and blamed him for their miseries, Geelani asked people to donate at least Rs 500/ for transporters. His new diktat has drawn flak with people stating that he has turned Kashmiris into "beggars."
"The transporters are not able to benefit from the relaxation period. Keeping their hard times in view, Hurriyat appeals people to donate a minimum of Rs 500 each to the local Baitul Maals, exclusively for the purpose of helping transporters." Geelani said in a statement.
A Kashmir watcher while talking to Early Times said, "Geelani's obsession with hartals and shutdowns has ruined Kashmir and its economy. It's not transporters only who are struggling to make their ends meet. There is large section of the society which has been rendered jobless and they have nowhere to go. This section of the society cannot even take to the streets and stage protests."
He said, "During the past 3-months private companies have winded up their operations in Kashmir leaving hundreds of people jobless. Many small newspapers have stopped their operations. Street vendors have disappeared. The businessmen and their staff members have no idea about what to do with their lives."
A politician said, "Geelani has turned Hitler. He is out to punish his people in order to establish his writ so that people acknowledge him as their leader. It seems he (Geelani) is deriving sadistic pleasure by not allowing people to come out of their homes and by snatching their right to livelihood. He (Geelani) is doing all this to appease his masters sitting across the Line of Control (LoC)."
He said, "There are many people in Kashmir who are the verge of facing starvation but they cannot approach the Masjid committees to seek help. People owe money to the banks. For the past three months they have not paid their installments. Besides tourist season, wedding season has been ruined. The activities which have flourished during the past three months have been stone pelting, hooliganism and anarchy."
An analyst said, "People have realized that continuous shutdown is not taking them anywhere. They have understood that Azadi is a myth and it's not going to come even if they observe the shutdown for one year. Geelani should see the writing on the wall and call off the protest otherwise history would never forgive him. It seems his (Geelani's) thirst for the human blood is not over. He is still searching for dead bodies."
