SRINAGAR, Oct 8:Ignoring the state's business houses, the central government departments are said to be making huge purchases to meet their requirements from outside the state. Official sources said though the government had time and again taken up this issue with the central government, but to no avail as these departments continues making purchases from outside the state. Sources said that even as central government had termed the state's micro small and medium enterprises equally good, its departments were not making purchases from the local market. A member of Chamber of Commerce and Industry said if the government 'takes up the issue with the central government, it is likely to help in the promotion of economic activities in J&K'. As per a survey conducted by the business houses here, the central departments, including security forces, had the annual budget of several crores for the purchase. He said instead of inviting business houses from outside the state, the government should concentrate on uplifting the local units. |
