Health Deptt has no vehicles for RBSK Teams
10/8/2016 11:46:54 PM

Early Times Report
kishtwar, Oct 8: It seems the State Health Department's claims remained in papers and announcements only as doctors and others under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK) Scheme at Kisthwar are suffering due to unavailability of required vehicles for screening children for diseases.
Moreover, despite repeated reminders sent to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kisthwar, nothing has been done to meet the needs.
A doctor told Early Times that the RBSK Scheme was launched by the UPA Govt in March 2014 in J&K and the scheme was now working at all the health blocks of Districts falling in J&K State with aimed to screen children from 0 to 18 years of age group, defects at birth, diseases, deficiencies and disability. Children diagnosed with illness will receive follow up including surgeries at tertiary level at free of cost.
"The team under RBSK comprising four Medical Officers and four Pharmacists in each block who will screen the school going children studying in Government as well as Private educational institutions of the far flung and remotest areas of the district and they have needed eight vehicles to do their work properly, "he added.
He also said that the staff working under RBSK had made repeated requests to the CMO and higher authorities for providing vehicle for touring in far flung areas and diagnose and screening but nothing has been done as a result the above said team as well as people of the areas were being affected badly.
"Rest of the districts of the State has hired vehicles for the RBSK staff for running this scheme smoothly. Due to non-amiability of vehicles, we are facing a lot of problems while reaching out the needy for screening, despite budget is lying within the CMO Office Kishtwar for hiring of vehicles but after 3 years vehicles have not been provided, "he stated.
He alleged that the callous attitude of the concern authority can be gauged from fact that authority was pressurizing them to screen and diagnose the children- who are enrolled in different institutes- they are spending money from their pockets to cover the far flung areas.
Meanwhile Spokersperson NHM Employees Association Jammu Division, Faizan Tramboo urged upon the State Health Minister Bali Bhagat and others to intervene into the matter personally and direct the CMO Kishtwar to immediately hire the vehicles for the RBSK Staff.
When contacted CMO Kishtwar Dr Vijay Kumar Seni said due to poor response of tendering the vehicles were not hired so far. "We have approached to Mission Director NHM with a letter to provide vehicles and vehicles will be provided shortly, "he added.
