Poonch Oct 8: Residents living in areas close to Line of Control (LoC) in Border district Poonch have demanded construction of underground bunkers to save their lives and property from shelling as India and Pakistan have resumed hostilities by heavy firing in forward areas. Locals said the majority of Poonch villages are to be affected by cross-LoC shelling and thus they fear for the security of their lives. According to the locals living along LoC apprehend the firing may start any time in the ongoing hostile situation prevailing along the dividing line and thus they feel totally insecure and unsafe. Many villages like Gagriyan, Sawjian, Shahpur, Jhulas, Malti, Dalhan, Degwar, Kirni, Krishna Ghatti, Balakote, Balnoi, Mankote and many other border villages have suffered due to ceasefires violation from Pakistan side. In the background of recent heavy shelling and firing in which five person were injured on the other day, the people living in this border district are feeling unsafe and have demanded underground bunkers. Locals also lamented that they have only single crop on border villages which may destroy if they leave their houses. They demanded for the underground bunkers in all border villages, where people during border skirmishes may save themselves. They appealed to Deputy Commissioner Poonch Muhammad Harun Malik to fulfill the need of border occupants and provide the underground bunkers to them. |
