Rice Puller case: Accused remanded to 10-day CB custody

Jammu, Oct 8 : The four accused in the Rice Puller (RP) case, who had allegedly duped a Jammu businessman of Rs 8 cr, were today remanded to 10-day custody of the crime branch (CB) of J&K police by the city judge.
Accused -- Mohammad Iqbal, Mohammad Tahir, Abdul Jalil and Mudasir Ali - who were arrested in the case by CB on the complaint of Raj Kumar Gupta, son of Sardari Lal Gupta of Gandhi Nagar, were today produced in the court of city judge M S Manhas.
Gupta had alleged in his complaint that Venkata Krishna Modegula, D BalasubranayamTirupati, Gowhar Hussain Rather, Afroz Ahmed Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Sohail Ahmed Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Bilqees Mir, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Irfan Ul Hamid, Sheikh Irshad, Mohammad Ishtiaq Lone, Syed Gulzar Ahmed, Abdul Rashid Malik. ManojKalsi, S. Balbir Singh, Parvez Ahmed Bakarwal, Tahir Bakerwal, B Ramakrishna, Raju Kumar Singh, Ajay Saini and Ashok Tak had approached him from time to time and allured him to buy RP, claiming that it was very precious and its value was in crores.
He agreed to buy it when they told him that he could sell it at a very high rate, thereby earning a good profit. In the process, he transferred in their bank accounts lakhs of rupees and also paid them cash. However, after taking a huge sum of money, the accused vanished into thin air, thereby cheating and duping the complainant of Rs 7.99 cr.
The CB probe found the allegations to be true against the accused. All the accused, in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy, were found to have taken a huge sum of money from the complainant and later duped him of Rs 7.99 cr.
The CB has booked Venkata Krishna Modegula, son of Sai Siva Rama of Padma Rao Nagar, Secundrabad, Hyderabad, D Balasubranayam Tirupati of EastWestVintrade Pvt. Ltd, Gowhar Hussain Rather, son of M Yousaf Rather of New Qazi Bagh, Anantnag, Afroz Ahmed Khan of Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmed of Lalpura, Kupwara, Sohail Ahmed Khan of Anantnag, Imtiaz Ahmed Bhat, son of M Subhan of Khanabal Balapora, Anantnag, Bilqees Mir, wife of Imtiaz Ahmed Bhat, Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Kupwara, Irfan Ul Hamid, son of Abdul Hamid of Droundi Bhalla, Doda, Sheikh Irshad, son of Sheikh Manzoor of Nagar (at present Udrana, Bhaderwah), Syed Gulzar Ahmed, son of Qamar Din of Nejama Lakhripura-Damal, Hanjipura, Abdul Rashid Malik, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Kulgam, Manoj Kumar Kalsi, son of Khushal Chand of Krishna Nagar, Jammu, Balbir Singh, son of Mehar Singh of Krishna Nagar, Jammu (At present Lane No 12, Canal Road), Parvez Ahmed Bakarwal of Mansar, Tahir Bakerwal of Mansar, B Ramakrishna of Kolkata, Raju Kumar Singh of Kolkata, Ajay Saini and Ashok Tak, both residents of Jaipur under sections 420, 406 and 120-B of RPC.
