3 hurt in bear attack

MANDI, Oct 8: A man and his two minor children, including a son and a daughter, were injured in Bandi area of Sawjian here in a bear attack.
They were identified as Muhammad Altaf, his son Asim (6) and daughter Shabnam Akhtar. They were removed to PHC, Sawjian, from where they were referred to the sub-district hospital, Mandi, police sources said.
Condition of Shabnam was said to be critical. People held a massive protest against the wildlife department and alleged that bears were entering the villages due to the negligence of its field staff. They appealed to deputy commissioner, Poonch, Muhammad Harun Malik to intervene in the matter and take action against the wildlife staff.
