Of counter defamation and hollow notices: Much a do about nothing
1/2/2013 12:16:57 PM
Abodh Sharma JAMMU, Jan 1: Notices to politicians and their blue eyed bureaucrats by the State accountability and transparency institutes of the State might have rendered them defunct, but the notices they issue against one another generally prove to be much ado about nothing. While counter notices by NPP president Harsh Dev Singh and Political Advisor to Chief Minister Devender Rana made headlines the previous day, nothing has been heard about the legal notice that Rana issued to Sajjad Lone in July last when latter charged the Political Advisor of arm twisting the cable industry of Kashmir and also of misuse of his official position and authority. "I challenge Sajjad Lone or anybody else to cite or prove even a single instance in the last three and half years that I have called up any Government functionary for any of my business interests, even a single instance shall be good enough for me to suffer consequences," Rana had said adding, my channel is operating in Kashmir since 2003 and is not something which has cropped up recently as has been wrongly projected by Sajjad Lone"....

Number of voters in Kashmir and Jammu almost equal
Excessive Representation To Valley
1/2/2013 12:10:04 PM
Neha JAMMU, Jan 1: The population of Jammu province is equal to Kashmir, if not more. It is a different story that those who conducted census operation in Jammu & Kashmir, according to the BJP and the Panthers Party, "fudged the census figures" to put Kashmir in an advantageous position. The argument advanced by these two parties and others in Jammu used to be that "since the number of voters in Jammu province was more as compared to Kashmir, it was obvious that the population of Jammu was also more as compared to Kashmir". It was only in 2008 that the number of voters in Kashmir suddenly increased and quite substantially. Why did the number increase? Only the concerned authorities could g...

ET Report JAMMU, Jan 1: As the civil society across the country seems aghast over the unfortunate Delhi incident, molestation of a girl in a police station of Jammu Kashmir has almost gone un-noticed.
