Wrestlers from India and Pakistan sweat it out on the slushy fields in Jammu and Kashmir as a part of the initiative to boost friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
Christened 'Mission Dosti' (Mission Friendship), the competition saw six participants from Pakistan engaging in the traditional style of wrestling where participants fight on raised earthen quadrangles, instead of modern-day mattresses.
The wrestling match was organised in Katra, about 45 kilometers from Jammu on Monday.

Apparently worn out of fight against India, the separatist leaders have now started fighting against each other in open.
Though publicly they cite the ideological reasons of moderate and hardline, the fights they are picking up are essentially based on their egos and eagerness to rule the crowds in the Valley. With some of the separatists like Lone brothers and Shabir Shah preparing for elections, others like Yaseen Malik projecting themselves as "Gandhis of Kashmir", the lines of trouble are clear between the two factions of Hurriyat Conference: one headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the other headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

A self-styled Lashkar-e-Toiba area commander was among three militants killed in a gunbattle in Ramban district today.
On a tip off, 61 Rashtriya Rifles troops and police launched a cordon and search operation in Lancha area of Gool Tehsil, official sources said.
During the search operation, an encounter took place in the area, they said adding that in the gunbattle three militants were killed.
Two AK rifles, 4 magazines, 70 rounds and one wireless set was recovered from the spot of the encounter, they said.

Almost a year and half after the constitution of a cabinet sub committee on the issue of human rights, the government today took first step forward by constituting a task force to study the cases at district level.

The former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, who has been a high profile lawyer before switching over to active politics few years back, today once again appeared before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court against a controversial but most prestigiously fought decision of the state government.
Baig and another leading Supreme Court Lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who is also Congress spokesman, today argued on behalf of a consortium of power project construction companied aggrieved by a decision of the state government.
