| Pak forces move closer to Rajasthan borders | | | | Agencies
New Delhi/ Barmer, Dec 24: Pakistan on Wednesday deployed its army in place of the regular Pak Rangers along its border with India. The move would ratchet up tensions between the South-Asian neighbours several notches, and further add to fears of an outbreak of war between the nuclear armed states. The deployment of the army has taken places in the Barmer sector of Rajasthan.
Diplomatic relations have gone into a tailspin between the two countries after a savage terror attack on India’s financial capital Mumbai, believed by India to have been perpetrated by Pakistan based terrorists.
Confirming the news, Additional Director general of BSF, Barmer, UK Bansal said today that, " There is a lot of activity along at the Pakistan side of India-Pakistan border near Barmer in Rajasthan and Pakistan Rangers have been replaced by the Pakistan army.” The ADG also added that BSF is on full alert and is capable of handling any eventuality.

Jammu, Dec 24: A day after Jammu Police produced three terrorists before the media, Pakistan has confirmed about one of the man coming from its soil but denied he was a serving soldier.
The Pakistan Army Wednesday denied that Ghulam Farid, one of the three terrorists arrested Jammu Police for allegedly planning a suicide attack was a serving soldier of Pakistan's 10 Azad Kashmir Regiment, media reports said.
A Pakistani military official said Farid deserted Army in 2006 from the central city of Okara. "He's certainly not an army employee and his unit was not deployed at the Line of Control when he deserted the army," the military official said on condition of anonymity.

Leh, Dec 24: At least twenty four persons have gone missing after they left Rangdum for Kargil, on foot.
Official sources said that twenty-nine persons, including some women, had left Rangdum on December 18 on foot for Kargil. However, none of them has reached to his destination, Parkachik, near Kargil till date.
The matter was brought to the notice of the district administration by the relatives of the missing persons. Sources said that Deputy Commission Kargil immediately convened a meeting of the senior officials of police and civil administration to take stock of the situation.
