| Mufti wants Pak currency in Kashmir | | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | Apr 14
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and leader of the PDP, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has triggered off yet another controversy. Speaking at rally, Sayeed proposed the idea that the government should allow the currency of both India and Pakistan to be used in Jammu and Kashmir.
Trying to give the example of the European Union, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed suggested that Kashmir should become a model for SAARC as well. As the state gets into election mode, Sayeed's controversial proposal is clearly an emotive issue with a certain section of the Kashmiri people and is timed ahead of the state assembly elections.
Meanwhile, National Conference President Omar Abdullah dismissed Mufti’s demand as a mere poll gimmick. Omar Abdullah said, “It is nothing but a statement made keeping in mind the imminent state Assembly elections.”
Meanwhile government sources have also reported to have told a news channel that Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's proposal is unacceptable. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and using any foreign currency will not be consider...

Senior Vice President JKPCC and Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil has underscored the need for constitution of an inquiry commission to ascertain the source of income of both separatist and mainstream politicians who have amassed huge property within and outside the state. “People want to know how these properties have been acquired and bank balances accumulated”, he added.

Jammu | Apr 14
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's dig at the alleged anti development and anti peace politicians in Kashmir and their pen wielding supporters has drawn flak from his foes and friends alike. Both factions of Hurriyat Conference have reacted sharply to the remarks made by Ghulam Nabi Azad at a public meeting at Ganderbal last week, lambasting the political leaders who are opposed to return of peace in the state, having developed vested interest in continuation of violence and chaos, dubbing them as enemies of progress and development. His sharp criticism of the media friendly to these elements, who he alleged that through their negative writings are tryin...
