8/25/2008 11:27:05 PM
Nirbhay Jammual Jammu | Aug 25 Politicians of various hues have been plagued by confusion. This element of confusion among the political leaders has resulted in growing contradictions within the political parties. Except for issuing appeals for maintaining peace and for emphasising the need for resolving the land row through talks and dialogues political leaders have no cut and dried solution to the problem.Mark the contradiction in the state unit of the Congress. Those who had gone to Delhi for meeting the Prime Miniter and other central leaders had demanded recall of the Governor,N.N.Vohra.But a senior Congress leader,Mangat Ram Sharma, and his temporising political colleague G.S.Charak ...

Concern on J&K crisis
8/25/2008 11:24:38 PM
New Delhi | Aug 25 Taking a dig at the government for its alleged softness on terror and pandering to demands of the Kashmiri separatists, BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley expressed apprehensions about its ability to keep the country intact. "The ability of this government to keep the country together is suspect," Jaitley said in his address to the Delhi Study Group, a BJP-affiliated organisation, here. He accused the government of avoiding a dialogue with Sri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti (SASS) for 38 days as "it was scared the separatists in the Kashmir valley would be antagonised". Jaitley said it was clear from the government's "fallacious" policies that it was not concerned about t...

New Delhi | Aug 25 The Supreme Court today extended its stay on Jammu and Kashmir High Court's decision to lift a state-wide ban on SMS services which were allegedly being used to spread rumours during protests over the Amarnath land transfer row. Congress divided between faith, politics
8/25/2008 11:23:16 PM
Sandeep Bhat Jammu | Aug 25 The Shri Amarnath Shrine land row is though awaiting a final resolution but its political fallout on the Congress –which earlier had to loose the government on this issue –is clearly evident as the local leaders are not only finding it tough to do a right posturing but are also moving in directions opposite to each other. Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and State Congress president Saif-ud-Din Soz are keeping away from the state leaving it to the second rung leaders to decide as per the prevailing situation. The main issue which is seeing the Congress clearly divided is whether or not to seek removal of the Governor NN Vohra. Right from the beginni...
