`Bhalla, Wani, Taj own fortunes; Malik, Sharma conceal facts'

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21: Accusing Ministers of the coalition Government of plundering State resources to amass wealth, the National Panthers Party (NPP) has sought Vigilance probe into the assets acquired by them as Ministers.
Syed Rafiq Shah MLC and president Young Panthers has expressed grave concern over the growing menace of corruption in the State and the utter failure of the Government to curb it.
He said it was ironical that despite Government's tall claims, corruption had plagued the entire system and the State was heading to occupy number one slot in the reckoning of Transparency International.
Lambasting the Government for `breeding and encouraging' corruption, Rafiq Shah said there were several tainted Ministers who have been allowed to continue besides several others who had huge unaccounted property collected through underhand means.
Seeking a Vigilance probe into the assets of the ruling Ministers, Shah said that they needed to come out with their property details at the time of becoming legislators, in 2008 and also the details of property held presently by them.
Quoting few instances from the property statements filed by Raman Bhalla, Abdul Majid Wani, Taj Mohi-Ud-Din and others, he claimed that huge moveable and immovable property had been shown to be in possession of these Ministers and their spouses.
He further said that several property items including non agricultural land had been undervalued so as to evade stamp duty which amounted to criminal offences. Besides several Ministers including Manohar Lal Sharma, Abdul Gani Malik and others concealed vital information relating to their and their spouses' property and had thereby filed false affidavits, he accused.
He said that Manohar Lal had concealed the income of his spouse in the affidavit given by him despite she being a Government employee. Likewise, he said, Abdul Gani Malik though having a B.Ed college, a huge building complex besides huge chunk of non agricultural land had concealed this vital information in the affidavit filed by him.
Similarly one Minister has shown 13 kanals of land at Sunjwan acquired for Rs. 10 lakhs which amounts to undervaluation and another Minister has shown 11 kanals of land acquired in Ranjit Pur, Jammu at a cost of Rs. 4 lakhs only, he claimed. Besides the NPP leader claimed several Ministers have resorted to blatant concealment of property details, misleading information besides false affidavits having been filed which need to be dealt with under Law. NPP leaders said the details of such Ministers shall also be furnished separately.
