| Private companies greasing palms to render sub standard services | | What lies behind poor performance of BSNL? | | Asif Iqbal Naik kishtwar, Jan 21: Notwithstanding inconvenience to the large number of people following withdrawal of Tata Indicom services from the State, BSNL, the public sector telecom giant is rubbing salt in their wounds by offering poor and substandard services. People in Kishtwar have alleged criminal nexus between BSNL officers and private players for fetching illegal benefits. "Despite the fact that the company launched its 3G services in Jammu and Kashmir in the month of July 2011, more than one and half year later, the company is deliberately not extending these services to people of Kishtwar as the private companies have been regularly greasing the palms of the BSNL officers so that they can get more customer base," said a subscriber. "We have opted for BSNL connection since it is the cheapest among the all," said Arif Bashir. He said that newly introduced WIMAX internet service also remains affected most of the time, thus causing lot of inconvenience to the customers. President Chamber of Industries and Commerce Kishtwar Rakesh Mahajan also slamed the BSNL for its poor services and demanded an immediate solution to the problem. Meanwhile, several people hailing from BSNL telecom circle Udhampur-Doda-Kishtwar complain that TDM Udhampur does not visit the areas falling under his jurisdiction so as to listen the public grievances. As per the reports, during his over one year tenure as TDM Udhampur, the senior most officer of the department has hardly made any visit to places like Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban. The complaints against the officer were vindicated as after repeated attempts, he refused to reply to public query. |
