JAMMU, Jan 27: As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the Youth Services and Sports Department organized a Ladies Cultural Programme, at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, here this afternoon.
Mrs. Usha Vohra, First Lady, who was the Chief Guest, speaking on the occasion, observed that society is in a state of flux with quick technological and economic growth taking place. She said that the civil society has to play an important role in enlarging awareness about what is important in a man or woman's life. She added that all have equal rights and these must be respected by one and all.
The First Lady observed that no laws can be effective unless there is change in the social mindset, which can be brought about by society itself, so that our girls and children are safe and secure. In this context, she also laid emphasis on women empowerment for which education of the girl child is imperative.
Vohra congratulated the Youth Services and Sports Department for presenting an attractive Cultural Programme.
