| With Bloeria at helm, Central university fails to establish its identity | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 27: Near about one and half year has passed when former J&K chief secretary SS Bloeria was appointed vice chancellor for central university Jammu (CUJ) but the university is yet to establish its identity in the spheres of education in the state. This is in contrast to central university Kashmir where things are going smooth and varsity is giving tough competition to other highest education institutions of valley but CUJ is lagging far behind from other institutions. The CUJ Jammu is running only eight courses and is sticking to those courses which are already being run in Jammu University where the standard of education is high as compare to central university. Those courses which are being run in CUJ are MBA-Tourism and Travel, MBA-Human Resource Management, Applied Mathematics, Education, English & Comparative Literature, Economics, Ecology & Environmental Sciences and Computer Science. Whereas CU Kashmir runs Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Information Technology, Masters in English, Masters in Convergent Journalism, Masters in Economics, Masters in Mathematics, B.A. LLB, Masters in Urdu (M.A. Urdu), Master of Tourism Management (MTM) and Masters in Education courses. Not a single new course which could have given students extra opportunities is being run in Central University Jammu. The one such example is of mass communication and journalism course, which is not being run in any of four universities of Jammu region, be it JU, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi university, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah university or central university. But when we compare these universities with Kashmir based institutions, we could see that this course is being taught in all three universities in valley. When Bloeria took over as CUJ VC, he was asked as what is his vision for the varsity and in reply he had said, "It is better to talk to me when I complete one year in the office." But now, near about one and half year has passed but Bloeria has nothing to show on ground. Not for a single time, Bloeria addressed media regarding his policies and programmes and vision for the varsity. He still remains mum and only enjoys the chair which he has got due to political powers of his son-in-law, who enjoys close proximity with J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah. Corrupt people were given important positions in the varsity but nobody in J&K dares to question the approach of Bloeria towards varsity, fearing worst nightmare from government.
