| Taj's uttering in tacit understanding with Omar …..? | | Grand NC-Congress alliance salvo: Cong rebuffs claim | | Early Times report Jammu, Jan 27: Senior Congress leaders and Minister for Medical Education Taj Mohiuddin's renewed salvo that Congress and National Conference will fight the 2014 Assembly elections in the state jointly is being critically analyzed by the political punditry in the state. Despite the fact that most of the Congress leaders have already rebuffed his claim saying the decision over the issue was 'high commands prerogative' and if sources close to congress high command are to be believed Taj has been grilled by 10-janapath on his latest assertions about grand alliance with NC. as per the sources he has been directed to restrict himself to his ministry and not poke his nose everywhere. He has been reportedly asked to be within his limits as he is not having mandate to talk on bigger issues. He has been told that AICC and JKPCC president were the appropriate authorities to talk and take decision on such issues in consultation with senior JKPCC leaders and office bearers. However, question arises as to why Taj would talk again and again on an issue about which he has no authority?. According to commentators, if the past events particularly Taj's alleged involvement in corruption and the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's criminal silence on these charges are any indication, one could somehow arrive at some conclusion with little scope for assumptions and presumptions. Why Taj is inviting criticism from his own party colleagues, why he is taking up cudgels with the JKPCC, why he is overtaking both JKPCC President Professor Saifudin Soz and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in issuing statements on very sensitive issues of political nature? Whether Taj is so naïve and immature that he is issuing controversial statements without looking into pros and cons?. These and many other question are striking in every body's mind. Every single individual interested in politics is trying to understand this interesting character called Taj Mohiuddin. However, very few know about political maneuvering of Mr. Taj who is facing serious charges of corruption. The fact of the matter is that Taj Mohiuddin is very calculated and has been issuing statements in a specific milieu. Actually answer to all the questions lies in Taj's multi-pronged and multi-directional strategy-he has adopted. Primarily he wants to be in news to give an impression that he is very close to 10-Janapath rather closer than Soz and Azad which is not true. While giving this kind of impression Taj is desperate to become No.3 in congress camp which is again his wishful thinking. Secondly knowing that given the fact that elections to the Parliament are not too far, Congress high command cannot come to his rescue again and again as for the serious charges of corruption leveled against him are concerned, Taj simply takes refuge in Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's lap who is enjoying the confidence of AICC Vice President Rahul Ghandi. At least this trick has so for worked for Taj. If sources are to be believed 10-Janapath had initially agreed to drop him from the council of ministers for serious corruption charges during the recent cabinet expansion-cum-reshuffle but it was the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who overtly and covertly convinced Rahul for Taj's continuation in the cabinet though with wings clipped. more loyal than king, Taj this time has in all probability issued the statement in tacit understanding with Omar Abdullah for the reason that state unit of congress has rebuffed Omar's assertions on Grand-2014-alliance so he is not willing to invite criticism from his congress cabinet colleagues. Under this scenario Omar might have asked Taj to resort to the rhetoric just to create panic in among opposition circles and play spoil spot. And that is why Taj again talks about the future NC-Congress alliance although congress high command has taken serious note of this and has directed him not to overstep. Thirdly, Taj speaks his heart when he comments on alliance. His top priority is to gain sympathies of Chief Minister to the maximum in a desperate attempt to keep National Conference away from Uri for the reason that he has lost the ground in Uri. this implies that Taj is desperately trying to force things to happen according to his wishful thinking. However, indications are there that Taj can even lose his job this time in he stretches the issue because entire congress camp (both Soz and Azad factions) is very much annoyed with Taj. It merits a mention here that was recently quoted by a News Agency as having said, "Fighting elections to the legislative council seats under panchayat quota jointly by the two parties was an experiment and a pre cursor for forming an alliance in 2014 and the thumping victory of the coalition proves that the experiment was successful. Fighting the elections in an alliance will be in the interest of both the parties". He had said the Congress high command in New Delhi was also in favour of fighting the upcoming elections by the two parties together. "What I know and from what I have understood, the high command is also in favour of an alliance", Taj had said.
