| All engineers to come upto expectations of general public: Majid Wani | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jan 27 : While taking review meeting of PW (R&B) and Mech. Engg. Departments at Srinagar, Abdul Majid Wani the R&B Minister said that Mahatama Gandhi had rightly said "India lives in its villages". And from all perspectives including social, economic and political the statement is valid even today. Around 65% of the State's population is living in rural areas. People in rural areas have the fundamental right to live same quality of life as is enjoyed by people living in sub urban and urban areas. And, only a good road connectivity network in rural areas is going to open floodgates for overall growth & development for people living in these areas. Wani further said that the Government is committed to provide a transparent, clean and responsive administration to the people of state and has been successful in implementing various flagship Programmes of Bharat Nirman so as to provide basic civil amenities for the rural upliftment. Majid Wani further asked all the engineers to be more responsive and accountable towards public demands and needs; all non-performing officers shall have to face stern action. There is an urgent need, today, that the R&B department engineers become more responsive towards the citizen's demands and accelerate implementation process of all road & building projects in the state. He also directed them to monitor the schemes and make judicious use of funds so that the purpose of these schemes is accomplished within stipulated time-frame. |
