| Moulvi beats student to pulp | | Suspended, goes into hiding | | Et Plus report Srinagar, Mar 20, A teacher in Daroo-ul-Aloom was suspended for allegedly beating a student to pulp in North Kashmir's Handwara Town on Wednesday. To evade arrest the said teacher has gone into hiding. According to reports Molvi Saif-u-Din, a teacher in Al-Tafheem-ul-Quran Daroo-ul-Aloom, Bandi Mohalla, Handwara allegedly beat a 12 year old student Danish Manzoor to pulp for not reciting the Holy Quran on time. The Molvi as per the family of the student had locked Danish in a room with ropes. "My son succeeded in escaping from the clutches of the said teacher and we were aghast on seeing his condition. We shifted him to a nearby hospital from where he was admitted to sub-district hospital, Handwara," his father Manzoor Ahmed said. "We have kept him under observation. The body parts of Danish Manzoor bore 'torture' marks and it will take some time to get them healed," Medical Superintendent SDH, Hnadwara, Dr Sajad said. A case has registered against the teacher and police has launched a hunt to nab him. "He has fled from the school. We believe that the teacher has gone to his home and a police team has been sent to nichhama, Zachaldara to arrest him," Station House Officer, Handwara, Shakil Ahmed said. Meanwhile, Daroo-ul-Aloom management has suspended the teacher and has declared that it will bear all the expenses incurred on the treatment of the child. "We will police to nab him (teacher) and we are ready to provide monitory assistance to the family," Molvi Iqbal from Daroo-ul-Aloom Management said. |
