| Agitated women Members condemn Jugal's misdemeanour | | | ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 20: Irate over the incident of the previous day involving BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma wherein he had heated exchanges and assumed aggressive posturing against Sakina Itoo, the women members of the House today condemned the incident in strong words and demanded that BJP's national leadership took action against Jugal who is also the president of party's State unit. Taking up the issue just as the House met today, Congress MLA Indu Pawar of the Congress said that while the Parliament was debating Women Security Bill and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj was demanding stricter provisions against acts of intimidating women, the president of the State unit of her party was involved in such shameful act. "The House should intimate the essence of the House to the BJP leadership seeking his suspension from the party and demand that he should not be given mandate to contest elections in future," Pawar asserted. Shamima Firdous, who is also the chairperson of the State Women's Commission, said that while legislature makes laws for the citizens, an act like this inside the legislature was shameful and unpardonable. "How would such people be behaving with the women in their families?," Shamima exclaimed. She also sought action against the MLA from his party leadership. Bimla Luthra, NC MLA while expressing anguish said that women as such had to brave so many odds to step of out of their homes for their rights, an incident like this against the woman member of the House should be condemned in strongest possible words and the member in question should be expelled by his party. Taking cognizance of the feelings expressed by the women members, Speaker Mubarak Gul while condemning the incident sought apology on behalf of the House from all women and assured the House that a letter reflecting the essence of the House shall be written to the national leadership of the BJP seeking action against the member. |
