Anantnag, Mar 20: The district administration was crippled for several hours here today as more than 200 officials joined former Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Shah over a sumptuous wazwaan at the Dak Banglow, Khanabal.
Ever since the recent administrative reshuffle, the state exchequer is being looted in the name of farewell parties. It has been reliably learnt that the bills are paid out of departmental funds meant for welfare of the people.
Today's party lasted several hours as Farooq Shah who yesterday joined as Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and his successor Farooq Ahmad Lone resorted to gossip as more than 200 officials , some self styled civil society members and journalists watched in amusement.
"Administrative failures inside militancy affected Kashmir could be asserted with the fact that these happenings go unnoticed every day and the amount allotted for the development process is being wasted on these functions and some bureaucrats backed by politicians are trying to get media hype", a politician said, adding it seems that some Maharaja has shifted his capital from one place to another.
A local restaurant owner, who today served the wazwan in the farewell party held in Dak Banglow Khanabal Aantnag told Early Time Plus that administration is likely to spend over 3 lakh rupees on the farewell party that was accorded to deputy commissioner Srinagar.
Newly posted Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmad Lone after attending phone calls deliberately dropped them, however said that farewell function held at Dak Banglow Khanabal today was unofficial.
When asked that is there any provision for conducting such kind of functions during working hours he said, "No there is no such kind of provision but 'ab too chalta hai'."
