ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 20: In what could be described as subordinate officers "dictating" terms to seniors after applying consistent pressure through political big-wigs, a "powerful" police officer of the rank of Inspector managed to obtain three separate orders of his posting that too in just three days. Surprisingly, the order has been issued by those two senior police officers who themselves were under transfer by the order of State Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on March 15. Highly placed sources in Police Department revealed to Early Time Plus, that "a powerful police officer of the rank of inspector after using his links of influential persons got his Range changed. Furthermore, from Range to allotment of District followed by posting as SHO of one of the police stations was done in next two days." Some senior police officers, on the condition of anonymity, shared that "the orders pertaining to shifting of any police officer from one Range to another can be issued by ZPHQ but the officer under transfer has to first make his joining in the office of concerned Deputy Inspector General (DIG) before he is allotted the district. Furthermore, after receiving the order of allotment of district, the officer has to further make his joining at District Police Office (DPO) i.e. office of the concerned SSP. Then the concerned SSP of the district issues the order either for joining District Lines or SHO of any of the police stations of the district". While top police hierarchy of Jammu zone remained tight-lipped over the issue, well placed sources in Police Department disclosed that "On March 16 a single order was issued, wherein, an Inspector rank officer posted in Reasi district of Udhampur-Reasi Range was transferred to Jammu-Samba-Kathua range. Even while the police inspector was not relieved from Reasi district, and he had not joined the office of DIG, Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, within two days i.e. on March 18, the outgoing DIG, Jammu-Samba-Kathua range issued another order and allotted him Jammu district, for the reasons best known to him". "Shockingly, the same late evening, officiating SSP, Jammu, issued an order and posted the police inspector as in-charge SHO of one of the police stations under Rural wing of Jammu Police," confirmed sources further adding that "Two days have passed, the police inspector in question has not yet been relieved from Police District Reasi". "On one side Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress coalition is talking high about bringing police reforms for the welfare of the people of the State. And on another side, all such trends are continuing right under Government's nose. Will Omar's Government be able to inquire and act sternly?," commented a police officer while speaking on the condition of anonymity. |
