Jammu, Mar 20: Accused of stabbing a Plus-2 student, last year, a turban-clad youth was today arrested by Jammu Police after he allegedly attempted to cheat in his First year annual College Exams. Besides attempting to copy, the accused has also been charged of assaulting a female Professor who was on duty, when the accused tried to cheat. According to police reports, one youth identified as one Tawanpreet Singh was sitting in one of the examination Halls at Government College for Commerce, Canal Road, today. When the accused was objected by a lady Professor deputed as Examiner in the Hall, not to copy, he immediately stood and assaulted the Examiner. Before leaving the Examination Hall, he tore his answer sheet.According to Nowabad Police, a candidate Tawanpreet Singh was arrested following the complaint lodged a female professor of the Commerce College who was on duty. The Professor in her written in her complaint alleged that when she resisted him for copying during the written test, the accused attacked her and tore-up his own answer-sheet. Following receipt of complaint, Nowabad Police swung into action and finally apprehended the accused, who has been booked under sections 341 and 323 of RPC. Police sources informed that during the interrogation of the accused, it was ascertained that the accused has a history in crime related activities and was also involved in a stabbing Plus-2 student that occurred in Shastri Nagar area, the previous year. |
