Unauthorized Housing Colonies in urban pockets to be regularized soon: Bhalla

JAMMU, July 28 : Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Mr. Raman Bhalla has said that Government has completed the survey of unauthorized housing colonies of urban pockets for their regularization, adding that in this regard a fruitful decision is expected at the earliest.
This was informed by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Nai Basti in Gandhi Nagar constituency, here today. Mr. Bhalla said after regularization of unauthorized housing colonies in urban pockets, the localities would be developed with improved basic amenities. The Minister said that the Government has formulated comprehensive plans under PHE, PDD, R&B, Education, ERA and Health sectors to meet the developmental aspirations of people of the state. He assured the people that all their genuine demands and development needs would be fulfilled in a phased manner. He urged them to extend their whole hearted cooperation to the Government for progress and prosperity of the State. For facilitating the people of rural pockets, the Minister said Government has dedicated Rs. 9 crore multipurpose community halls for arranging social as well as social functions on minimum rates. He said Government has earmarked Rs 7 crore for development of recreational parks, walkways beautification of open spaces available on the embankments of nallahs and Ranbir canal with illumination, landscaping, Irrigation and drinking water facilities.
At Nai Basti, the Minister attended a function organised in connection with 5th death anniversary of former Congress Block President Late Mohan Lal Sharma and paid rich tributes to the departed leader.
Paying tributes to great leader, Mr. Bhalla said Mohan Lal was known as the guiding force for the Congress party throughout his political career who also played big role as a social reformer.
Later, the Minister visited Bhour Camp Flouriculture Garden and inspected the ongoing flood protection works over Balol nallah along the garden. The Minister enquired about the status of embankment work along the garden taken up at a cost of Rs 2.80 crore. He asked Irrigation and Flood Control department to complete the project in double shifts to save the prestigious garden and the property of the people residing close to the nallah from flash floods. He was informed that during recent incessant rain, the flash flood washed away some agriculture land situated along the nallah. Mr. Bhalla asked the concerned authorities to raise the height of nallah walls so that that soil erosion of agricultural land due to flash floods could be stopped.
The Minister said that a detailed project report for construction of 21 new link roads for Bhour Camp and its adjoining villages costing Rs. 4.92 crore has been submitted to NABARD authorities for funding.
Responding to demand of lower Gaddigarh people, the Minister asked the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to immediately start the construction work on 320 meter long deep drain withy grating facilities, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 73 Lakh. He called upon the people to cooperate with the executing agency in completing the project in time. He asked the PDD to shift the transformer and install it at the safer place so that the construction work of deep drain does not suffer.
