Kishtwar, July 29: Taking cognizance of the Early Times report highlighting pathetic implementation of hyped Mid Day Meal Scheme in Kishtwar, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad today convened a meeting for effective implementation of Mid day Meal Scheme in the district. Tehsildar Kishtwar Indeerjeet Singh Parihar, Chief Planning officer Subash Chander Sharma, Chief Education Officer Rajinder Kumar, district Social welfare Officer Prem Singh,AD Planning, ZEO's of all education blocks and representatives from health department participated in the meeting. Taking stock of provision of food and quality of cooking oil, vegetables and other items under Mid day Meal Scheme, the DC directed the concerned officials to ensure regular testing of food items and drinking water in schools. He asked the officials to use steel containers for storing the food grains and cooking oil to negate chances of contamination. It was decided that orientation programmes for cooks should be organized and Village Level Monitoring Committees should be formed to ensure proper check on the scheme. The DC also discussed the progress regarding the construction of Toilets and Kitchen sheds under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. The education department was directed to complete the remaining projects in time bound manner and also ensure highest quality in the ongoing works. The health department was asked to prepare a comprehensive schedule for Health checkup of school children and form committees for this purpose. "There must not be any compromise with the Health of students who stand as the future of the nation" said DC Kishtwar. |
