| Madan appeals for peace, condemns border firing | | | Jammu Aug 11: Madan Lal Sharma Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency appealed the people of both communities to maintain peace and harmony for the larger interests of the nation and the state. He also condemned firing on LOC at Poonch and lodged strong protest with Pakistan. Cautioning people not to pay heed to rumours, Senior Congress leader and MP demanded that State Government should take permanent measures and device a fool proof strategy so that such incidents do not occur in future. He suggested for developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) by Home Department to deal such incidents besides demanded action against the people who could not control the situation well in time causing severe damage to life and property. Sharma demanded suitable compensation to the victims of this fury and strict action against those who will figure in the probe being conducted by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu. Sharma also met with people of different communities and afforded for maintenance of harmony but expressed his dismay over handling of affairs in Kishtwar. He said that it is the failure of Administration as they could not sense the objectives of the trouble mongers who not only ignited a communal tension but also disturbed the pious day of the Eid. MP expressed his heartfelt condolences with the families of youth killed in the incident and demanded both justice and compensation to all who are effected by the violence. Expressing serious concerns over the firing on Line of Control (LoC), he condemned the indiscriminate firing on LoC in Poonch and demanded safety and security of the people residing on border and asked the Poonch administration and army to construct bunkers so that people can take shelter and save their life in case of emergency. |
