Kishtwar, Aug 11: Barring few incidents in remote Padder Tehsil of Kishtwar District, the situation remained peaceful in Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir on 3rd day of curfew since clashes broke out in the District on Eid, Friday. One more person was found dead in Gulabgarh area of Padder Tehsil. As per reports, one Lassa, son of Amadu Khandey resident of Kijayae Padder was allegedly kidnapped by the rioters last night from police station Gulabgarh, Where he had reportedly taken shelter following clashes on Friday. local people said that the rioters after being pushed by the army and police from Kijayae area in the evening again tried to march towards the same area, but had to return following resistance from Army and police. In three hour long battle between security personals and rioters, SHO Padder Saroop Singh and SDPO Armed police Hamid Chowdhary got injured. After receiving the report of dead body at helipad Gulabgarh, police and officials of civil administration rushed to the spot and took it in their custody. However the reason behind the death of Lassa could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, three persons who received bullet injuries in clashes at Kijayae Padder were airlifted to army command hospital Udhampur. The condition of the two is stated to be critical.
In another development, Army today cleared 182 vehicles and 7 motorcycles carrying nearly 1500 Machail pilgrims who were struck on Kishtwar-Padder road since Friday. Army in last two days cleared nearly 4000 pilgrims safely. As per army sources no pilgrims are stranded on Kishtwar-Padder road as of now. People in different parts of the District have been hit by shortage of medicines as nearly 11 medicine shops were burnt by the rioters on Monday, beside there is also a shortage of essential commodities like milk and vegetables.
