Early Times Report DODA, Sept 3: The Forest Protection Force (FPF) guards seized 35 kgs of Nagchhatri - a banned herb, while being smuggled from the Marmat forests of Doda district to Amritsar in a van and arrested its driver-cum-owner at Hud Humbal on Khileni -Goha link road in Doda last evening. Reports said the herb known for its aphrodisiac effect having undetectable steroids was being smuggled from the jungles of Goha after purchasing it from the locals at Rs 1400 per kg to be sold in the Amritsar market at a price of Rs 3200 per kg. According to the FPF Deputy Director J-9, Gama Unit Jarnail Singh Billoria its value in international market is several times more. The driver, Aftab Ahmed was arrested and his van (JK02L-9662) was seized. The accused was presented in the court of Executive Magistrate,1st class, Batote for remand on Tuesday. |
