| Govt continues to treat Jammu tourism as country cousin | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 3: The State Government's indifferent attitude to tourism potential in Jammu has once again come to the fore. In a recent advertisement published in national daily, the only spots of tourism potential shown in broad pictures are Patnitop and Bhaderwah. Patnitop is already on the tourist map and Bhaderwah is slowly emerging as the tourist hot spot in Jammu division. The other places shown in the advertisement are Surinsar, Mansar Lakes and Mubarak Mandi complex. The pictures of these places have been displayed in very small size. The picture quality of the advertisement showcasing tourism in Jammu is abysmally low. Tourism is one of the fastest emerging industry in the Country. The State Government are hiring the best photographers in the world to showcase the tourist sites in their State. However, the State Government did not make any attempt to hire the professionals for it and to fill the customary requirement picked by lowly pictures which doesn't have any quality to attract the potential tourist. This the same State Government which hired the best advertisement agency in the country to make promotional campaign of the State. The agency produced the quality campaign but it was solely concentrated on Kashmir with only Vaishno Devi featuring for just few seconds. Mata Vaishno Devi has already an international pilgrim tourism destination with about more than one crore pilgrims arriving annually. The Government if it had been serious should have featured more spots of Jammu region in the campaign, like Bani, Kailash Kund yatra, Sanasar and other spots . Even Surinsar and Mansar lake features they have not been developed. There is no place for tourist to stay at Surinsar, which is just few kilometers away from Jammu city. Lake at Mansar also needs much care though hundreds of crores of rupees have been spend on the Dal lake. The State Government has always shown biased towards Jammu region and it has once again displayed in full public view. |
