early times report Jammu, Sept 3: In the concluding phase of Sadbhavna fortnight Celebrations which commenced on August 20, The N.S.S. Unit of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar Jammu in collaboration with Vichar Kranti Manch International (VKMI), organized a seminar on "Youth and communal harmony" and an interfaith dialogue on peaceful co-existence here today. State Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, I.D. Soni was the chief guest while Prof. Sarla Kohli, Rtd. Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu, Guest of Honour on the Occasion. In her welcome address, Principal of the College Dr. Kiran Bakshi, who also presided over the function, expressed her hopes that the youth and students especially those who joined NSS, will not be mere registered volunteers but a real change makers in the lives of many others irrespective of caste, creed and colour and shall act as joints to unite the society. "We cannot achieve sustainable peace unless we live with the spirit of universal brotherhood and co-existence", she said About 3 dozen people representing various faiths including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism Buddhism, Jainism, Baha'ism, Brahma Kumaris, and various civil society organizations took part in highly harmonious seminar and interfaith dialogue. The three hours program blended with patriotic songs, speeches, poems and slogans filled with message for peace and harmony, by N.S.S, Volunteers Sonika, Diksha Sharma, Ansheeta Sasan, Diksha Kumari, that started with Sadhbawana pledge, concluded with the national anthem and an interfaith group photograph. The N.S.S Program Officers Prof. Shrotika Rajput, Dr. Shiveta Gandotra and Dr. Ashaq Malik co-ordinated the program whereas Sehrish Javaid conducted the proceedings of the program. Prof. Shrotika Rajput also presented the vote of thanks. |
