Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 18: Continuing the drive against the menace of adulteration, the Health Officer Jammu Municipal Corporation, Vinod Sharma along-with a team of food safety officers, assistant sanitation officers, sanitary inspectors & other field staff conducted an extensive tour in the areas like Trikuta Nagar, Railway Station area of Jammu city to check the quality of commonly used food items to the general public, inspected various food establishments like halwai shops, dhabas, bakery shops, juice shops, cut fruit shops, rehries, ice cream units, etc. About 10 kg of polythene was seized and a fine of Rs. 5010 was realized from defaulters. Moreover one person was also fined for Rs. 100/- for smoking in public place under COPT Act 2006. During the round, citizens were advised not to smoke in the public places as it is injurious to health. A fine of Rs. 200 would be imposed to those not adhering to the norms. All the food establishment owners including halwai shopkeepers dealing in sale of sweetmeats and other milk products were asked to adhere to the terms & conditions of FSS Act 2006 & keep their premises neat and clean for ensuring supply of pure & good quality of food items to the customers. All the business owners were also instructed not to use polythene bags which is in long run injurious to health, can cause cancer & impotency. The drive will continue and the general public is requested to co-operate with the Jammu Municipal Corporation to make the ongoing drive a success and to make Jammu city free of polythene. |
