Srinagar, Sept 18: 93 Deputy Superintendents of State Police of 2001 batch promoted as Superintendents of Police (SP) in the first week of July are still awaiting postings. The promoted officers include 46 Kashmir Police Service (KPS) of 2001 batch and the rest are the officers who were appointed as Sub-Inspectors in executive Police in 1982. The orders were issued by State Home Department vide order No 270/2013 dated July 4, 2013. However, the officers have not been posted as yet and all of them are still working as Dy. SPs at their earlier places of posting. Official sources said that the orders were issued Thursday evening after the Chief Minister approved the list of proposed DySPs for promotion to the rank of SPs. Among the promotes are Wasim Qadri, Additional SP Bandipora, Harmeet Singh, Additional SP Budgam Sajad Hussain Dy SP Headquarters Pulwama, Manjit Kour, Staff Officer with DIG Armed (Jammu) SP north Srinagar, Tahir Saleem, SP Operations Srinagar Sheikh Zulfikar and DySP Manoj Pandita. But to the dismay of the promoted police officers, the government is yet to issue the orders of posting of the newly promoted officers in their capacity as SPs, Sources in the Home department told Early Times that the chances of effecting the posting of the promoted police officers in coming days are very rare. They said though the vacancies were available against which the newly promoted officers could be posted, however, there was no forward movement in the file for reasons best known to the top officials in the Home department. Meanwhile, sources said, the issue of posting of the promoted police officers may come up for discussion in the Cabinet meeting slated for Thursday. Sources said the State Cabinet which is going to meet here in Srinagar at 4pm tomorrow is likely to discuss the issue though it is not in the agenda of the meeting. "It is expected that cabinet may ask the Home department to order postings of the newly promoted officers," a senior government official told Early Times. |
