GoC Romeo Force reviews security in Rajouri-Poonch

Rajouri, Sept 18: In the back drop of recent spurt in firing across the border Romeo Force (Counter Insurgency Force) organised high level meeting at head quarters of Romeo Force at Palma approximately 8 kilometers from district headquarters review and to take stock of the prevailing security situation in the area and chalk out a joint strategy to maintain peace and tranquility in the area..
The meeting chaired by General Officer Commanding (GoC), Romeo Force Major General I Naryanana was attended by senior military, police and civil administrative officials. Among prominent who participated in this meeting included Danesh Rana, DIG police Rajouri -Poonch range, FC Bhagat Deputy Commissioner and Mubasir Latifi, SP Rajouri, and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch and other representatives from various units of Counter Insurgency Force.
In his address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) expressed his satisfaction over the efforts of the civil administrations, police and security agencies and appreciated their efforts to keep the area peaceful and conducive for the development of the twin districts. He further said that everybody needs to be focused and synergised efforts at all level are required to keep the internal security situation to the expectations of the people.
Pertinently there has been spurt in skirmishes along Line of Control (LoC) following killing of 5 Indian soldiers in Chaka De bagh Poonch on the intervening night August 5/6 besides ruomors tossed in air that some ultras might have infiltrated in Indian side and the panic among border residents following injuries to civilians during heavy firing along LoC including civil inhabitations.
Romeo force which is responsible for internal security and counter insurgency operations in the border districts to maintain peace and foil bids of terror mentors/outfits to disturb the harmony in the area, today organized a high level meeting to review the security scenario in the area.
In his opening address GOC Romeo Force encouraged the officials to overcome the contemporary challenges and called them to continue to work in synergy crack the terror network and to infuse confidence among the civil population. Meanwhile he also appreciated the law abiding nature of the people of both the districts and exhorted officials to responsive to the developing situation to maintain peace and enable implementation of development projects by the civil administration.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri FC Bhagat appreciated the role of security forces as well as civil administration for improving the security environment and maintaining communal harmony. Additional DDC, Poonch also lauded the joint efforts of Army, Police and civil administration for the successful conduct incident free Shri Budha Amar Nath Yatra.
Danish Rana, DIG Rajouri & Poonch also briefed the gathering on the prevailing internal security situation and discussed initiatives initiated for synergy and implementation of 'Joint Counter Agitation Strategy' (JCAS) for overall improvement of security situation in the twin border districts.
