Police busted inter-state gang of robbers, 3 held
Pistol, desi katta with 7 live cartridges recovered

KATHUA, Sept 18: Police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of robbers by arresting a notorious criminal along with his two associates and recovering two pistols with ammunition.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua Mohan Lal informed media persons here today that on the evening of September 17, a party of Police Station Rajbagh while on patrolling received a reliable information that a notorious Inter-State gangster identified as Sham Murti alias Shamu Om Parkash of Hamirpur, Tehsil Hiranagar along with his two associates is roaming about at Hamirpur-Garnairi Link Road armed with deadly weapons.
Police immediately swung into action and nabbed the gangster and his two associates, who were riding on a motorcycle and recovered one pistol with 4 live cartridges and one Desi Katta with 3 live cartridges from their possession, SSP Mohan Lal said.
SSP further said that Sham Murti and his two associates identified as Hardev Singh alias Bablu, son of Pyar Singh of W.No.7 Kathua and Yudhvir Singh son of Gaseet Singh of Khanpur Tehsil Hiranagar have been arrested and arms/ammunition and motorcycle under their possession were seized.
The senior police officer informed that the gangster Sham Murti was operating in Delhi since 2009-10 besides remaining involved in criminal cases in Kathua district also.
Recently in the month of July and August he was involved in two cases of robberies and one case of bike theft at Delhi and a case under Indian Arms Act at Himachal Pradesh.
In one particular case three of his associates have been arrested but this notorious gangster remained at large despite strenuous efforts by HP and Delhi Police who conducted frequent raids at his native place and at Jammu but the gangster with his other associates remained untraceable. In the instant case a FIR no. 190/2013 under section 3/25 Arms Act. 120B RPC stands registered at Police Station Rajbagh and further investigation is going on to as certain his links in the capital city and to nab his other gang members, the SSP added.
