Court denies bail to rapist

Jammu, Sept 18 : Municipal Magistrate Jammu VS Bhou today rejected the bail application of one Rajinder Singh son of Karnail Singh resident of Village Sui Kanachak Tehsil and District Jammu who was arrested by the police in alleged rape case. Municipal Magistrate Jammu VS Bhou after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer Rohit Gupta for the state observed that it is reveals from the CD file that the petitioner allured prosecutrix for the said offence by extracting her consent in good faith and on assurance of marrying her and as such, in the past too has committed such acts with her which aspects is yet under investigation and admission of accused on bail would definitely hamper the investigation and possibility of accused tempering with the evidence cannot be ruled out. Court further observed that courts as well as legislature is deeply concerned with the rights of the women and crime against women is on the rise and perpetrators of such crimes are required to be dealt with heavy hand to restore faith of the common man in the judicial system. With these observations Court dismissed the bail application. (JNF)
