Katra, Sept 20: Owing to deadlock between Safaikarmacharis and state government over long pending demands, holly town Katra has turned garage dumping site. The Safai Karamcharis are on indefinite strike, since September 9. Demanding fulfillment of their long pending demands, a large number of Safaikarmacharis were gathered outside Executive Officer (EO) Katra Friday and shouted slogans against director Urban and Local Bodies Jammu. The Safaikaramchari led by president Kala and General Secretary Bahadur took out a protest rally and staged a sit-in at General Bus stand Katra. Holding placards they appealed state government to fill their long pending demands. Later, PDP leader, Sher Singh joined the protesting Safakaramchari and also joined the sit-in. Addressing the gathering, the PDP leader said that government should immediately meet the demands of Safaikarcharis. "The holy town has turned garbage dumping site, as more than 600 truckloads of garbage was lying on roads in the town. The state government is earning money by adjusting favorite candidate and back door appointment has also been mushrooming. But the genuine issues of employees like Safaikarmachari were lying un-settled since long", he said, adding that the Governor NN Vohra, who is also chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Borad to come forward to address the grievances of Safaikaramcharis as the sanitation in the town has been halted due strike. "Heaps of garbage in the town has affected pilgrimage and 12 days have gone but the concerned authorities have no bother to deal the issue sincerely", he added. |
