| Alleged bid to destabilize Omar Govt | | Hassan pleads non- guilty | |

Srinagar, Sept 20: Minister for Agriculture and President Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN), Ghulam Hassan Mir on Friday trashed the allegations that he was in league with former Army Chief to destabilise the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
"These allegations are baseless. History stands witness how I made every effort to stabilise the government during the times of unrest in Valley," Mir told.
Pertinently, a secret inquiry report into the functioning of the Technical Services Division, a highly secretive and controversial Military Intelligence unit set up by former Army Chief General VK Singh, has reportedly recommended a high level probe into alleged siphoning of Secret Service funds by the unit. The funds were allegedly used to, among other things, engineer a change of regime in the Jammu and Kashmir state government.
According to the report, the inquiry report found that Rs 1.19 crore was taken from Secret Service funds to be paid to Ghulam Hassan Mir, presently Agriculture Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, to engineer a change of government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mir while refuting the allegations said that he is an open book and never believes in playing games behind the curtains. "There is no truth in the report and i vehemently denounce it," he said. |
