| HC allows RG High Court to make temporary promotions of Munsiffs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 20 : In an application filed by Registrar General J&K High Court seeking modification of orders passed on 5 September 2012 and 22 August 2013 on the ground that about 20 courts are without Presiding Officers (Sub-Judges) and the litigant are suffering the High Court on Fridayallowed Registrar General to make temporary promotions of Munsiffs subject to final outcome of the final seniority list to be drawn within the period granted by the Court. It was also contended that the Munsiffs who have been selected/appointed in the recent past could not be posted unless the promotions are made amongst the existing Munsiffs. Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey of High Court after hearing senior advocates DC Raina, VR Wazir with advocates FA Natnoo, Veenu Gupta for the petitioners, advocate Aditya Gupta for the High Court and advocate SS Ahmed for the private respondents observed that in the given circumstances, the application filed by Registrar General is allowed and the order dated 5 September 2012 read with order dated 22 August 2013 is modified to the extent that Registrar General is allowed to make temporary promotions of Munsiffs subject to final outcome of the final seniority list to be drawn within the period granted by this Court. The Court further said that the promotions shall be made on stop-gap arrangements which shall not confer any right on promotees and shall be subject to outcome of the final decision of the petition.
