| DM clarifies rumors about issuance of gun licences | | | | JAMMU, Sept 20: Reacting to rumors in the district especially in rural areas regarding issuance of gun licenses from the Deputy Commissioner Office Jammu, the District Magistrate has clarified that no special scheme or drive has been launched in this regard. The issuance of gun licenses is being done in a routine manner as per government policy and rules prescribed in Arms Act. Hence, the people are advised not to believe in such rumors and fall prey to any agent or facilitator who promises them issuance of gun license from Deputy Commissioner Office as it may be fake licence. It is also brought into the notice of general public that new computerized system for issuing gun license has been issued and no gun license henceforth shall be entertained which does not bear computer generated unique number. All the renewals of gun license are also taking place on computerized system only while no manual renewal shall be valid for license renewed after September, 2013 from Jammu district. Old licenses issued from Jammu district without any computer generated ID shall remain valid and those will be provided computer generated IDs. |
