early times report Jammu, Sept 20: Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar organized 'Hindi Pakhwada': a fortnight carnival of Hindi literary activities. As a part of ongoing celebration of this day Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Jammu University was the chief guest whereas Kiran Bakshi, principal GCW, Gandhi Nagar was the presiding officer. The programme began by lighting the traditional lamp. Head Department of Hindi, Jugal K.Puri welcomed the chief guest, presiding officer and other dignitaries who were present on the inaugural ceremony of Hindi Pakhwara - A fusion of Hindi literary activities like Kavita Path, Laghu Katha, Essay Writing, Elocution and Quiz Competition which will embellish this event in two week long celebration. Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs supported the maximum use of Hindi in day- today affairs. She called it as a language of our emotions, sentiments and belongingness to a nation. Kiran Bakshi in her address admired the initiative of the Hindi Department of this College to promote this language and thereby develop the creative potential of the students in their own mother tongue. A recitation competition was held which was judged by Shabnam Suri, Renu Sehgal and Vandana Sharma. The 1st prize was bagged by Ayushi, 2nd by Mehnaz and 3rd by Sonia. Students also gave the scintillating performance by performing a mock humorous play entitled 'Bhola Ram Ka Jive' based on the short story of Harishanker Parsai. It painted the prevalent scenario of corruption in public life.
