Sports Reporter JAMMU, Oct 2: Tawi Trekkers Jammu and Kashmir today celebrated its 30th anniversary amidst honouring its members for the successful conduct of the programme during 2013 in a function held at K L Sehgal Hall, here. On the occasion, 25 institutions, who participated in Himalayan trekking programmes, Sport Climbing training and competitions, debates and painting contests and also remained associated with other activities of the Club, were honoured by the chief guest, senior advocate and Additional Advocate General, Neeru Goswami. Sports Officer (Jammu) of the State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma and member of the Sports Council, Rashid Ahmed were guests of honour on the occasion. A number of outstanding mountaineers, including Everester, Ram Singh, who was the Director of J&K Himalayan Programme and first Indian girl to scale Shivling peak, Stanzin Youthog as also other members (for successfully completing basic course in mountaineering) were also felicitated. Earlier, general secretary of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Ram Khajuria presented a brief note on the adventure activities organized by the club during the year and expressed his thanks to various agencies for their valuable support. Among others present were president of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, Prof. Lalit Magotra, president of the Tawi Trekkers, Sumant Singh Jamwal, Shamsher Singh, Yogeshwar Kumar and Navneet Gupta of Mountaineering Association of J&K as also Principals of the participating schools. Meanwhile, the state sport climbing team today left for participation in the North Zone Sport Climbing Championship to be held at Delhi from tomorrow. |
