| NC must shun anti-people politics for betterment of JK | | |

Jammu, Oct 2: As the winter session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is going on in Srinagar, the MLAs of various political parties may not get the opportunity to raise the issues pertaining to public life.
The session is being dominated by politics from all quarters as government has failed to address the concerns of opposition parties. The public issues shall remain unaddressed if the current trend continues. The Omar Abdullah government stays comfortable when issues of public concern and misgovernance are not raised. The people of Jammu and Kashmir for past 24 years are facing the worst kind of insurgency which has taken toll on their lives, as thousands of people have been killed, the business has been shattered, tourism is nowhere, governance is far away and still no relief seems round the corner for them.
Since independence, Jammu and Kashmir has been exploited by this grandfather-father-son party for their personal interests. They want to keep date with chair and even if people suffer and don't get food, it hardly matters for them.
The same thing has been going on for decades now and when the whole country is heading towards a change, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have no hope that their lives will improve. The present government is still talking about the accession and merger of the state with union of India, despite the fact that the founder of National Conference (NC) Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah himself put the end to it in 1975, when Indira-Sheikh accord was reached.
This must be kept in mind by the leaders of NC who are hell bent upon taking the state back to early nineties by raking up the emotional issue. Their main motive is to capture the chair again and for that they can go to any level.
If the NC leaders think that they have some kind of responsibility towards people of the state, they must shun this kind of thinking which is becoming very dangerous for the state on the whole. |
