KATHUA, Oct 2: The incompetency of District Industrial Centre (DIC) and state government can be gauged from the fact that around 15 years back, nearly a dozen shops, which valued in several Crores, were constructed at prime location Hatli-morh, but are yet to be inaugurated and utilized. The shops are located at prime location of Jammu-Pathankot national highway and can be used for different commercial purposes, which will help DIC to generate revenue, but neither DIC is using these shops nor giving the same to needy people on rent. Local youth Inderjeet Singh, Raman Bharti, Karan Kumar told Early Times that at one hand government was not having any concrete employment generation plan for the educated unemployed youth and on the other same has failed to utilize its own resources. They alleged that if the department would have rented these shops, not only a dozen of people would have got employment besides the department would have also harvest revenue. "A number of times we asked DIC to allot these shops to us, but inspite of repeated requests, we got lame excuses and our demand turns out to be cry in the wilderness", they said, adding that the result was that presently the shops were not even visible from the road side even. Large bushes and trees have grown up in front side and also on roof top while without proper care, same have been turned into shambles. When talked to DIC general manager Amarjeet Singh said he has joined the office a couple of months back. "As per my knowledge these shops are never used till date", he said, adding that after construction of four lane highway the level of shops has gone down and approach way to shops has also been vanished due to construction of deep drain across the road. He further said that these shops were presently unsafe and could only be used after repair and renovation, for which he has written a letter to higher authorities. |
