EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 2: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) displaced people (DP) under the chairmanship of capt Yudhvir Singh Chib, president of the organization today staged a protest demonstration in favour of their demands at Press Club Jammu. While lambasting center and state government for showing apathy towards their plight, Yudhvir Singh said that they (DPs) are waiting since 1947 for their grievances to get redressed, but the authorities have adopted a dilly-delaying tactics to dodge our genuine plight. Further, Singh maintained that after striving hard democratically for just demands, DPs have lost their patience and have now decided to resort to hunger strike unto death from November 4 to press hard their demands before state and center government. He said that until now DPs have conducted innumerable meetings, protest rallies, hunger chain strikes, court arresting and have also submitted their memorandum to prime minister of India, chairperson of National Congress Sonia Gandhi and also to various ministers of state government, but every time their pleads could not reach deaf ears. The demands which DPs have accentuated for early remedy included enlistment of left out DPs, which are not yet registered, grant of adequate compensation, ownership rights, issuance of ALC certificate, backward status, ex-gratia relief and formation of development board. |
