Jammu, Oct 2: Various political and non-political parties across the Jammu province today celebrated 144th Birth anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi with great fervor and gaiety by remembering his ideologies. The main functions were held here at Pradesh Congress Committee head quarters Shaheedi Chowk Jammu, wherein leaders of PCC, DCC, BCC, including Ministers, Ex-ministers, Legislators and Frontal organizations of the party participated in large number. The function was presided over by the Senior Vice President PCC Dharam Pal Sharma and was attended by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma, Hari Singh, Ex-Ministers Mula Ram, R. S. Chib, Kanta Bhan, Ex-MLAs Om Chopra, Shiv Dev Singh, Puran Singh; S R Sudhir, K L Gupta, K L Abrol, Manmohan Singh, Narinder Sharma, Y V Sharma, Hari Singh Chib, Ravi Singh Salathia, Narinder Gupta, Sanjay Sawhney and Rajiv K. Gupta. Speakers while paying tributes to the father of nation said that Gandhi Ji was one of the most respected spiritual leaders of 19th century. He led a non-violent revolution which became foundation for gaining independence. He unarguably was one of the greatest men in the history of India. His vision for India entailed that "every religion has its full and equal place in the country". His teachings of social justice, non-violence, establishment of secular harmonious society, amity and brotherhood are more relevant today when communal forces are out today to divide the people on the basis of caste creed & religion. Jammu Kashmir Congress Committee unit Kathua also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, wherein General Secretary Bupinder Singh, General Secretary Kewal, Vice President Harbans Singh, Janak Raj, Tarsem Lal and secretary of JKPCC S. Manohar Singh said that Mahatma Gandhi was not only a political but a spiritual leader in India and had played a key role in the Indian independence movement. District Congress Committee Urban accorded warm welcome to Sadbhavana Yatra from Kanpur (UP) on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti at Railway station Jammu. President Om Chopra Ex MLA and other office bearers profusely garlanded them and officiated their annual feature wherein message of peace, brotherhood, communal harmony and truth is spread in J&K as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, an icon of peace and non violence. Hiranagar unit of Congress on Wednesday remembered Mahatma Gandhi with senior leaders paying floral tributes. Speaking in the function, leaders threw light on the life and achievements of the great leader and urged the participants to follow the footprints of the great leader. In his address Subash Chander Gupta Member Legislative Council said that Gandhi ji was undoubtly world leader and even today is revered by the world community. Throughout his life he enlightened millions of people across the world with his policy of truth, non violence and his self less service. A special function in this connection was organized by the Block Congress Committee Bishnah at Arnia Town in which apart from office bearers, large number of party leaders, Sarpanches, Panches, Numberdars, Chowkidars and various prominent people of the area also participated. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister, Former Member-CWC, President Dogra Sadar Sabha, J&K, was the chief guest on the occasion paid rich floral tributes to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and remembered Gandhi ji who had seen the dream of empowering the rural masses by creating the Panchayati Raj in the country. Other who spoke on the occasion included Capt. Harshvardhan Sharma President BCC Bishnah, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak Member PCC, Waryam Chand, Dr. OP Saini, Balwant Saini, Suraj Pakash, Ganga Ram Sharma, Surjit Singh Sarpanch, Ramesh Dogra, Dr. Raghubeer Singh and Madan Bhagat. Shakti Punj, (regd.) NGO, a social organization also organized a simple yet impressive function at its head office at Hiranagar to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Acting President Udhay Singh and General Secretary Lukhinder Singh said that people must follow and appreciate the work done by our visionary leader Mahatma Gandhi. Others who participated in the function were organizer, Kuljeet (Balu), Advocate Sandharv Dogra, Rajinder, Neeraj, Narinder Bakshi, Deepu, Rashi, kiran,Anuj Gupta etc. In the similar function member of All J&K Movement For Peace & Justice, under the chairmanship of Kuldeep Kumar Rao celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, wherein he lamented that NGO's on Gandhi Ji's name have mushroomed apparently for propagating his ideology and rendering service to the poor but actually this is a mechanism of corruption in which huge amounts of money is swindled. To Commemorates the birth day anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, the Jagriti Old Age Home, Udhampur organized a function, wherein Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest. While speaking on the occasion, the DC threw light on the teaching and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, who always strived hard for due place to the deprived and down trodden people. She said that Gandhi ji adopted the path of non- violence during the freedom struggle of the country which proved powerful weapon and won the freedom. She urged upon the people particularly the inmates to follow the footprints of father of the Nation to carry out the message of peace, prosperity and progress. All members of Sky High India Social Organization today remembered the contributions of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji. After garlanding the statue of Gandhi ji in presence of mammoth of gathering, Aman Kalsotra prominent social activist and director Sky High India threw light on the life of Gandhi ji. Meanwhile, Saryara Biradri Welfare Committee (SBWC) celebrated birth anniversary of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi at ward number 47, Bahu Fort. Later addressing the gathering, Jagdev Raj highlighted the principals and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Others who participated in drive were Dev Raj Khokhar, Rasalo Ram, Puran Chand, Raj Nath, Karam Chand, Harbans Lal, Har Dutt, Tek Chand, Ram Singh, Shiv Dayal, Nobat Ram and Deevan Chand. Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The party organized a function at Kusht ashram by distributing food items, books, pen, pencils among inhabitants of Kusht Ashram beside children's. The party member remembered the thought and values of Mahatma Gandhi in the shape of tolerance for mankind and brotherhood across the globe. In Kishtwar, various organizations paid rich tribute to father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, wherein Go India foundation celebrated the day by organizing a program at Tourist Reception Centre Kishtwar under the Chairmanship of advocate Sheikh Nasir Hussain. Several college students and various representatives of NSUI and students of Government polytechnic college Kishtwar also participated in the program in large number. Gandhi Global family under the leadership of its District President Mohammad Aslam Malik also celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with schools children's of New Era Public School Kishtwar. Beside staff of the school, large member of senior citizens also participated in the program. Congress party also celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at Kishtwar. On this occasion Senior Congress leaders Thakur Jughal Bhandari was the chief guest. While speaking on the occasion, speakers while paying tributes to father of nation said that Gandhi Ji led a non-violent revolution which became the foundation for gaining independence. |
